Charly Williams

Samson the Strongman

A proud Samoan and Melbourne based performer, Charly Williams is shaped by heritage, faith, and family, growing up immersed in gospel music through the influence of his parents - quietly setting the course for a life in performance.

Charly’s career spans music, theatre, film, and television. As a recording artist, he has released self-penned material in collaboration with ARIA Award-winning producers George Papapteros and Chris Apostolidis. He toured internationally as a solo performer across Europe, the UK, Russia, and the United States, including appearances as a support act for European pop artist Emin. Alongside this, he has built a strong presence in live pop and R&B performance, gigging with bands, with acts such as Australian recording artists Joanne and ilanda. His stage credits also include supporting musical theatre icon Lea Salonga in Melbourne and appearing as a support artist for South-East Asian-celebrated musical maestro Ryan Cayabyab and singers, also in Melbourne.

On screen, his credits include Geoffrey Wright’s film Macbeth, the Fremantle Media mini-series Killing Time, and TVCs for McDonald’s, Nissan, Sportsbet, and Coles. Trained at APO Arts Academy under scholarship, Charly made his professional musical theatre debut in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical as a featured Drifter, before stepping into the role of Reverend Brewster in Elvis: A Musical Revolution.

In 2026, Charly will take on his late father’s Mataī name, a promise honoured, and dedicate this performance to his loving family, in gratitude and respect.
